Why feather pendant lights?

Feather lighting is inspired by Native American and Polynesian traditions, which used feathers in their adornments. Since then, this airy material has been incorporated into all types of decorative pieces! Especially in the 1930s, when it was popularized in the West for its exotic and novel appearance. Then, around 2010, it began to appear more and more on table lamps, wall lights, and of course, all types of wired lamps.

Light and almost poetic, suspended feather lights create a cosy atmosphere as well as a vintage style in interior design. With its ethnic style, the feather pendant light is equally suitable for a loft or a dining room in a Nordic, Mediterranean, or even industrial style if you want to add a touch of mysterious charm to your interior. Also, various elements can be combined with luminous featherwork! We are thinking of glass shades decorating your feather pendants and chandeliers.

How to choose your feather pendant light?

Depending on the decor in your bedroom, hallway, or dining room, you should choose a corresponding type of feather light. For an exotic, Southern-style living room, we highly recommend peacock and/or rooster feathers above the table. Their royal blue or orange appearance creates a warm atmosphere, filtering the light and diffusing a soft light source throughout the room.

For a Nordic style with solid wood and rattan art deco, a contrasting pendant light made of white feathers will look very stylish in this type of space. It will evoke a beautiful dove, a symbol of tranquility and a zen atmosphere. A round shape with a cylindrical white glass shade is a great option.

If your interior features an industrial look, made of matte black aluminum or chrome metal pendant lights, then a lamp suspended by an electrical wire and adorned with beautiful metallic black feathers will be equally suitable, bringing a light and futuristic feel.

What size for my feather pendant light?

One of the great advantages of a feathered ceiling light is its lightness. You will not have to worry about the weight on the ceiling, unless a crystal or glass shade is incorporated. Even lighter than a fabric or bamboo light fixture, it is truly one of the lightest options on the wall lamp market. However, if the room is small and your designer light is quite thick and bulky, consider choosing a pendant lamp with adjustable height so you do not hit it often and obstruct passage.

Mixed-material combinations

Featherwork applied to interior lighting can be combined with other noble materials, such as matte nickel or chrome metal. We are thinking of classic models, such as a round white feather pendant light with a copper or gold metal stem and base.

The natural wood & feather combination: A combination of natural materials! The alliance of the two materials creates sleek and cosy lamps that instantly catch the eye, in addition to illuminating the room.

Which bulb for feathered pendant lamps?

To avoid the risk of burning your feathers, we recommend purchasing LED bulbs that do not heat up, unlike halogen or incandescent bulbs. A compact fluorescent bulb is also suitable! You can discover our lamp models among our inexpensive pendant lights!
