The white spotlight: a sleek and minimalist light fixture

White spotlights are a recent addition to the history of interior design. Simple and stylish, these small ceiling, staircase, and even outdoor spotlights can be recessed to your heart's content. They elegantly direct the light while remaining discreet.

Suitable for any type of ceiling, the white LED spotlight offers great versatility across different decorative styles in a living room, bathroom, or loft.

How to choose white spotlights?

Given the abundance of white recessed ceiling lights, it's understandable that you might not know where to start! First, know that this type of light fixture is easy to install in any room.

- A connected LED bulb: Next, choose models with dimmable bulbs, meaning they are compatible with a light dimmer. This allows you to achieve a neutral white or warm white color temperature in each room, depending on the desired atmosphere. The white color helps reflect the light, unlike a black spotlight, which absorbs more of it.

- An energy-efficient model: certified with an A rating, most white LED spotlights feature an "energy-saving +" classification. LED bulbs are generally very energy-efficient by default, as they can provide as much light as a halogen model while using fewer watts and lasting over 50,000 hours.

- An adjustable model: among all the white spotlights available, adjustable shade day ceiling lights stand out! They allow you to direct the light toward a sofa or a dining table, for example. They can also illuminate a cooktop if you are installing wall lights in a kitchen.

- A certified waterproof model: white bathroom spotlights, like white bathroom wall lights, are the most popular choice for general, functional lighting in a modern bathroom. But safety and water resistance come first! If you want to install a spotlight in a bathroom ceiling, you must choose a bulb fixture certified IP44 or IP65. This standard ensures that each light fixture can withstand a damp environment. Hire an electrician beforehand to check the electrical installation.

Here is the difference between these two ratings: IP44 ensures protection against dust and small splashes of water. IP65 ensures protection against larger splashes, making this protection rating suitable for outdoor lighting.

If possible, choose a bathroom light fixture with a motion sensor to save even more energy.

Vary the shapes of white spotlights!

You certainly have a choice between very traditional plastic polycarbonate models and more elegant, stylish, and attractive options! A spotlight with a matte white metal shade lined with gold leaf will diffuse a soft light. Our range also includes affordable spotlights that are adjustable using a mechanical, articulated arm. This distinctly industrial lamp style also fits perfectly in a Scandinavian setting thanks to its neutral, light color.

How many white spotlights per square meter?

For a room that is sufficiently lit without glare, a row of spotlights placed every two or three square meters is the maximum.  For a staircase, you can place one spotlight on the floor every two steps, as long as the beam properly illuminates each one. You can decide on the number of spotlights this way, or calculate based on 300 lumens per square meter. This will help you distribute your white spotlights according to their light output.
