The children's wall light: Awaken their curiosity with brightness!
What better than a pretty wall light for a child's bedroom, to illuminate their little space with a warm atmosphere while creating a decorative touch. This allows you to offer them a calm atmosphere, conducive to sleep. To change from the desk lamp they use for drawing or doing homework, the wall light will have a whole new meaning for them! It will remind them of the pleasant indirect lighting it provides, but they may not necessarily know that it has a name: soft lighting.
What style of light for the children's bedroom?
We have a wide selection of wall lighting types for children, from the most minimalist to the most designer. Whether animal shapes, natural elements, or their favorite heroes, we offer models from our wide range that they can choose from. But it also depends on you, parents! Do you want a recessed reading light near their headboard to create accent lighting for their little book, or a decorative model that projects a light flux so they simply feel comfortable. You know better than anyone what is best for your child.
What kind of indoor lighting do children prefer?
In general, a child will like models that evoke familiar shapes, which will reassure them. Example: A bedroom wall light in the shape of a cloud, tree, giraffe, or teddy bear. Styles they see in their favorite cartoons.
You can also opt for simple recessed wall light models, such as a wall-mounted bedside lamp or a globe-shaped model.
A very simple model, such as a rectangular or square wall light, diffusing its light flux from the top or bottom is also a good option for children.
If the child's bedroom is large enough, it is better to opt for this style of wall lamp to diffuse light throughout the room. General lighting reassures your child when they are alone.
Another very popular model among very young children is medium-sized wall lights (about 30 or 40 centimeters) with several bright LED spotlights distributed around the edge. This creates a soft atmosphere as well as a beautiful warm light in their little bedroom.
But also, if your child is a little older (9 or 10 years old) and starts to appreciate designer shapes, you can give them the choice with adult models such as aged wood wall lights, equipped with a beautiful white glass lampshade, for example. This type of design is a good choice for a Nordic-style bedroom!
More generally, a wooden wall light is loved by toddlers. Whether in the shape of a deer, tree, or cloud, wood is truly the rustic material that young people probably appreciate the most. Its resistance also allows it to withstand the assaults of sometimes clumsy little hands.
Which wall light for children's safety?
We recommend a wall light model where the socket and E27 LED bulb are not visible, and therefore not subject to breaking. The child must not be able to reach them and hurt themselves. Or, if the type of bulb in the lamp makes it visible, mount the wall pendant light high up, so they cannot reach it with a stool, for example. Unlike a ceiling light which is inaccessible by nature, you must think about it for the wall light and anticipate the child's growth, but also explain to them that they must not play with it.
Our wall lights for bedrooms have built-in LEDs, so that the light source diffuses without risk. This creates styles that are both aesthetic and safe for the child's bedroom.
Also remember to choose a protection rating for the wall light. IP44 protects the bedroom wall light from possible water splashes that the child could cause.
These are necessary measures that we do not always think about, but which considerably increase the lifespan of your decorative lights, as well as the physical integrity of your child.
Also think about the choice of material
Opt for a LED wall light that will serve to decorate safely! Children tend to test the objects around them. It is therefore essential to take this into account when you want to decorate their bedroom.
Avoid wall light models:
- Cotton
- Feathers
- Glass
Instead, for the child's bedroom, prefer wall lamps in:
- Metal such as bronze, nickel, or aluminum (gray, chrome, or matte black for the main colors)
- Natural wood
- Plastic (flexible and rigid)
What light intensity for the children's wall light?
The ideal number of watts for a child's bedroom varies depending on how they will use it. For doing homework, a 20-watt LED bulb (about 3000 lumens) will be optimal.
For a night light type atmosphere, during quiet times of reading or playing, about 2500 lumens and a warm white color temperature create a conducive atmosphere.
You don't want your child to touch the switch? You have the option of choosing a smart chandelier or wall light model. This means a motion detector that is triggered upon entering or
leaving the bedroom. This will grant you a double benefit: even greater energy savings, and a sense of security.
What color for my child's wall light?
You can opt for light colors in pastel tones that create a calm and relaxed environment, such as beige, brown, or white. If the wall light with pictures is an option to consider for their ambient lighting, as are models in the shape of animals, such as a little fox or cat. Multicolored tones are appreciated by young children. We will then see pink, red, blue, or yellow for reassuring atmospheres typical of their age.
