Bedroom pendant light: A cosy and relaxing light!
In this guide, we will help you understand and select the pendant lights suitable for your bedroom, providing detailed explanations so you can make a choice with complete peace of mind, according to your preferences. This guide will provide you with the information you absolutely need to enhance your bedroom with the ideal light fixture.
Among all the rooms in the house, the bedroom is the ultimate place for relaxation and rest. Pendant lights are therefore ideal for these quiet rest areas, where we also like to read or simply meditate. You can create various atmospheres using our different lamps for the bedroom! By playing with colours, in particular, you can switch from an orange to a white light output, via green or blue. This is made possible, in particular, by adjustable filament bulbs with dimmable technology and a built-in colour temperature controller.
Precautions before installing a ceiling light in your bedroom or a child's room
- Check the connection: If the ceiling mount can accommodate a metal or glass pendant light. As these materials are quite heavy, take into account the safety of your ceiling and the strength of the wall.
- The size of the room: The chandelier or wired lamp should be chosen according to the size of the room. You probably won't want a LED light fixture with a diameter of 60 cm for a 12-square-metre bedroom! It wouldn't be harmonious, and the light intensity would probably be too powerful.
What brightness in the bedroom?
This will depend mainly on the atmosphere you want. If you want a working atmosphere because you have a desk in your sanctuary, we recommend white light with a power of around 30-50 watts, or 300-500 lumens. If you want a soft light for a reading or nightlight atmosphere, then lower the Kelvin rating to around 3,500 (instead of 4,500 for neutral light). Colour temperature is indeed very important.
If you do not have the option of a built-in dimmer in your bulb, opt for a dimmed lampshade, for example in smoked glass or coloured plastic. These are simple and elegant ways to vary the intensity of the light source on a bedroom ceiling via a remote control.
What shape for a bedroom pendant light?
Most common shapes are good choices; a round, square, conical, or rectangular pendant light will do the job! But spotlights or bubbles scattered in a trio or in various corners of the room are also choices that allow you to distribute the brightness harmoniously. Among our pendant lamp models, you will find a wide range of choices in various shapes, matching your style of decoration! We also have them in industrial, Scandinavian, or Southern styles.
At what height should I install my bedroom pendant light?
We recommend buying a pendant lamp model with adjustable height so you can vary it if necessary. If you have any doubts or a ceiling height of 2.50 metres, opt for a pendant light under 60 cm, including the lampshade.
Among the most popular bedroom pendant lights, here are the ones we tend to recommend
Inverted pendant lights
These lamps have a unique design where the light source is directed upwards in a hat shape, unlike traditional pendant lights that shine downwards. This configuration creates indirect lighting, which helps to illuminate the room in a softer atmosphere. It is commonly used in traditional or classic interior design styles.
Light ribbons
Light ribbons and garlands consist of a series of small bulbs connected by a wire. They are often used to surround objects such as headboards or run along walls to create a playful atmosphere.
LED pendant lights
LED pendant lights are modern pendant lights that use energy-saving LED technology.
Sculptural pendant lights
Sculptural pendant lights are sculptural light fixtures that serve as fascinating decoration by emphasising the aesthetic aspect rather than the functional aspect. They are often adorned with abstract patterns and are well suited to Art Deco interiors or enthusiasts who want to incorporate artistic elements into their space. A typical Italian design look.
Bamboo pendant lights
Bamboo pendant lights are one of the most popular lighting sources in recent years. Bamboo is an excellent choice due to its lightness and eco-friendly nature. Bamboo light fixtures are typically tapered and delicate, allowing them to suit simple and soft minimalist styles.
Rattan pendant lights
Finally, we have rattan pendant lights (which can also serve as a bathroom pendant light), one of the most popular and glamorous choices in the world of interior decoration in recent years.
