The crystal wall light: A baroque touch to brighten up every room!

If you want to add a majestic and dazzling touch to your home, then crystal chandeliers, pendant lights and wall lights are an excellent choice. This type of lighting creates a timeless atmosphere while elegantly reflecting the light, depending on the lampshade and bulb you choose. In this article, we will reveal various crystal chandelier and wall light ideas that you could install in your home to enhance your interior décor!

One of the earliest styles of lighting to emerge, notably during the Baroque period, crystal models feature meticulous finishes and are available in all kinds of shapes.

What is a crystal wall light?

A crystal wall light is a wall-mounted lamp that is fixed in place using a base containing a structure made of aluminium, wood or marble, for example. The interior will house an electrical system, while the lampshade is made from a glass mixture heated with added lead to give it shine and brilliance. That is what makes it crystal!

Where to install a crystal wall light?

The living room, dining room or hallway will be much more welcoming spaces to showcase your beautiful wall light!

What is a crystal wall light used for?

Your crystal light fixture can provide excellent general lighting in your living room, creating a warm atmosphere when you entertain guests. The transparency of this reflective glass will project an even more radiant flow of light through the living room or entrance hall. To achieve this, you can use a highly decorative type of bulb to complement your designer wall light. For example, a decorative filament LED bulb! This enhances the retro look.

In the hallway, people will be fascinated by the resplendent beauty of a wall light with a bell-shaped lampshade or a cascading chandelier-like design.

In a bathroom, a crystal wall-mounted light source will improve visual comfort while you get ready by projecting light onto the mirror and sink. Your wall lights will also add a highly appealing decorative style to this often very plain space.

For the living room, we recommend placing wall lights at the entrances to the living area. For a period look, you can opt for a floor lamp-shaped model with a brass structure and a patterned crystal lampshade.

For a more modern look, a tubular wall light with LED spotlights inside is a good option. You can choose a gold-finished metal centre (nickel, aluminium...) that extends above and below with two crystal tubes.

What lighting is best for a crystal wall light?

Crystal is naturally more diffusive than glass. This increases transparency and therefore the refractive index, so you will need an LED bulb of around 10 watts, which corresponds to around 65 watts for a halogen model, if that is what you have. The bulb's colour will also matter. If you have smoked glass on your E14 or E27 bulb, for example, the lighting output will be slightly different to compensate. You can also choose a two-material model, such as a bamboo wall light combined with crystal for a more subdued and exotic atmosphere.

To save you any prolonged deliberation, we obviously recommend purchasing a smart light fixture, meaning one with a dimmer and adjustable colour temperature. This dimmable technology gives you the option to vary the light output whenever you need!
