Discover our selection of outdoor ceiling lights, designed to combine safety, style, and durability!
Why choose an outdoor ceiling light?
This type of light fixture offers numerous decorative, functional, and security benefits when installed in your outdoor spaces.
Safety: this ceiling light illuminates entrances, walkways, and garage doors, reducing the risk of trips and accidents in shaded and dark areas.
Deterrence: good lighting deters intruders and enhances security around your home.
Style: an outdoor ceiling light adds a decorative touch and creates a pleasant atmosphere in outdoor spaces, especially for evenings on the patio.
Comfort: installing outdoor lighting makes it easier to enjoy outdoor activities such as alfresco dining or moving around outside.
A smart outdoor ceiling light with a motion sensor
Beyond its style, an outdoor ceiling light with a motion sensor is one of the most practical and energy-efficient options. The light only turns on when needed—when a visitor arrives, you return from the garage, or someone walks through the garden at night—so you don't have to leave a light on all night for no reason. It also provides an added layer of security: a light that turns on automatically when someone approaches effectively deters intruders while preventing unpleasant surprises in the dark.
Where to install a ceiling light in your outdoor space?
Every area outside your home can have its own light source. Depending on whether the space is covered or open to the elements, you should choose recessed light fixtures with a waterproof rating of at least IP44 or IP65. This protection rating protects your outdoor lighting from water ingress, allowing it to shine for years, even in rainy or damp weather.
The balcony: installing an outdoor ceiling light under a balcony creates a decorative and practical lighting effect. It is ideal for spending summer evenings with friends over drinks! Choose a model that emits warm white light and gradually diffuses a soft, subdued glow after being switched on. You can also create a beautiful display of distinct lighting with outdoor wall lights!

Shape and color: balconies are generally neutral in color (white concrete or anthracite gray), so it is common to fit them with outdoor lights featuring a clear glass shade or frosted white glass to create indirect lighting. Round ceiling lights or recessed spotlights arranged in a circle or square are generally preferred because they distribute light evenly across every square inch. Another popular option for this type of space is adjustable spotlights that can be focused on a table, which are also highly sought after for this type of arrangement.
Protection rating: if you live in an apartment, the balcony will likely be exposed to rain from time to time. An IP65 rating will be essential.
The garage: garage lighting is purely functional. Decorative options are optional, as the primary purpose of this storage space is not to look stylish—unless you have a garage used to store luxury cars that you occasionally show off.
Shape and color: a rectangular or round LED light fixture, or an adjustable LED floodlight, is an excellent option for distributing light evenly. If you use the garage for DIY projects or store items there that you need to find easily, you will need bright cool white lighting of around 30 watts (depending on the size of your garage) so you can see clearly without compromising on visual comfort. If your garage is very small, a halogen bulb is also a good option—it also provides welcome warmth in winter.
Protection rating: if your garage is poorly insulated and prone to dampness in winter, a minimum protection rating of IP44 is required.
Walkways and access paths: here, a decorative atmosphere with a warm white glow is the standard. Outdoor walkways are often beautifully designed with wood and foliage, so it is important to create a soft, cheerful lighting atmosphere. Your visitors will be all the more delighted! For this type of walkway, we recommend an outdoor ceiling light with a built-in dimmer.
Choose a smart lighting system with advanced home automation: dimmable bulbs controlled by a remote control can be integrated into the base, allowing you to adjust the intensity and wattage depending on the time of day and night so you do not dazzle drivers entering and leaving.
Shape and color: ceiling light fixtures for access paths and walkways are generally available in a variety of styles and guide your visitors with a warm atmosphere. An LED spotlight every two or three meters is ideal, along with a wall light near the house entrance. If you have high ceilings, you can also choose a set of black metal or chrome outdoor ceiling lights to add variety! In this case, the walkways should preferably also be made of metal or wood.
Protection rating: because these outdoor walkways are exposed to the elements, rain, and damp winds, an IP65 rating is preferable.
Every outdoor ceiling light in our collection is selected to withstand the elements without compromising on style—it is up to you to choose your next favorite.
