The metal pendant light: A minimalist look with a retro vintage feel!

The metal pendant light brings an authentic vintage feel to your interior. With an appearance that can be either modern or industrial depending on the details chosen, the metal pendant light can fit into any living room, dining room, or bedroom to bring a ''factory'' feel. Basically, metal pendant lights are not intended to create a cosy atmosphere, but rather to serve as functional lighting. First for the workers in last century's factories, so they could work after nightfall. Then, those who repurposed disused factories, such as artists and creators who took available interior lighting fixtures to illuminate their works.

Nowadays, we see chrome metal or traditional anthracite grey reborn with a completely different perception. More and more families like to have a large living room pendant light above a coffee table to illuminate their family meal, or their aperitif! Especially if the designer light fixture is adorned with a mesh screen as an openwork lampshade, around a modern energy-saving bulb whose decorative filament is clearly visible (the famous so-called ''Edison'' bulb), also recalling the incandescent bulb of the era.

Metals and their atmospheres: a guide to pendant lights

The atmospheres will not be completely the same depending on whether you choose one type of metal over another.

- Lacquered aluminium: Ideal for enhancing an interior with a modern design, aluminium has many advantages as a ceiling light: It is light, corrosion-resistant. Its flexibility makes it available in a wide range of shapes. This can be in the Italian design in a minimalist spiral shape, or it can be available in the Scandinavian style, with a two-material design with wood. You can incorporate it as a kitchen or dining room pendant light.

- Nickel: With its shiny and refined finish, it is a relevant metal to fit into chic interiors. Its sparkling finish will diffuse the light flow, especially if the bulb is visible through a perforated or mesh lampshade.

- Bronze: One of the champions of vintage style! With its noble patina that evolves over time, bronze pendant lights will go from golden brown to grey-green after several years, exposed to the ambient air. It is an interior lamp, like an outdoor light fixture that brings a real authentic touch to your decor while illuminating the room.

- Chrome metal: The chrome metal pendant light directly recalls the retro vintage aesthetic of the 50s and 60s. Its appearance enlarges the space via its mirror effect. It is also a type of metal that suits both an old industrial style, as well as a modern interior.

Mixing materials to make the light fixture more original?

Some designers have created superb LED lamps mixing frosted glass with matte black metal, in order to create a decorative hybridization, between Scandinavian and industrial style. The result is very sophisticated in our eyes, and you can very well incorporate it into your hallway or loft. Mixtures can also be made between wrought iron and natural wood for example, to create a most rustic atmosphere above the table!

The choice of the bulb for my metal pendant light

Modernity has allowed the arrival of low-energy lighting, very energy-efficient. Your pendant lamp can incorporate a LED bulb of about 50 watts for a large living room, to about thirty for a bedroom. The ideal is dimmable technology, which allows you to adjust the colour temperature so as to personalize the light output emitted by the bulb according to your desires! Among our models in stock, we offer a wide range of these glass pendant lights or metal, just like the E14 or E27 bulbs that go with them!
