A floor lamp provides light that changes the atmosphere of a room without drilling or touching the ceiling: you place it, plug it in, and your sofa area, dining room, or office is transformed. It provides soft, warm light, reading or accent lighting, and is also a real decorative piece. Rattan, bamboo, arc, tripod, Nordic, or industrial: find the model that suits your interior, with a 2-year warranty and free returns within 30 days.
Why choose a floor lamp?
- Zero work. No drilling, no ceiling wiring: it plugs into an outlet and can be moved as you wish, which is practical when renting.
- Light that creates an atmosphere. Placed near a wall, sofa, or corner, it diffuses a soft, often indirect light that a ceiling light cannot provide.
- A decorative piece in its own right. Rattan, bamboo, feathers, wood, matte black metal: it dresses the room, whether on or off.
- Lighting suited to every use. Reading, evening ambiance, lighting a table or a desk area: the same floor lamp can be adjusted for several times of the day.
Which floor lamp suits your style?
- Living room floor lamps: our selection designed for living spaces, with soft light near the sofa or armchair.
- Rattan floor lamps: a natural, openwork material that filters the light and creates beautiful patterns of shadows on the walls. A warm, bohemian atmosphere.
- Bamboo floor lamps: lightweight and natural, they add warmth without weighing down the room.
- Arc floor lamps: their extended arm projects light over a sofa, table, or dining area without a ceiling-mounted pendant light. Allow space for the base and consider the ceiling height.
- Tripod floor lamps: three legs, a silhouette reminiscent of studio spotlights. With a fabric lampshade and wooden legs, it's the ideal Scandinavian look for a cozy living room.
- Shelf floor lamps: light and storage in a single piece of furniture, for your books and decorative objects. Always respect the maximum load indicated.
- Nordic floor lamps: light wood, soft lines, and a light shade for a soothing, bright atmosphere.
- Industrial floor lamps: matte black or anthracite metal, graphic silhouette: the look of a loft for a contemporary living room.
- Feather floor lamps: a soft, textured lampshade that filters the light for a romantic and decorative atmosphere.
Depending on the models, you will also find reading floor lamps with a tiltable head, narrow models for small spaces, fabric shades, and versions with integrated LED. Use the collection filters to find them.
Which floor lamp for which room? Our guidelines
| Room | Recommended type | Type of light | Floor lamp height | Temperature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Ambiance floor lamp (fabric shade, rattan, bamboo), plus a reading model near the sofa | Indirect or dimmed, direct for reading | 140 to 180 cm | 2700 to 3000 K, dimmable |
| Dining room | Arc floor lamp or one with a tiltable head over the table | Direct towards the table, soft | Head at about 70 cm above the table | 2700 to 3000 K |
| Bedroom | Soft floor lamp or reading lamp near the armchair or bed | Indirect, dimmed | 120 to 160 cm | 2700 K, dimmable |
| Entrance | Narrow model, ideally with a foot switch | Indirect, welcoming | 140 to 170 cm | 2700 to 3000 K |
| Office | Floor lamp with a tiltable head | Direct, uniform | 140 to 180 cm | 4000 K |
These values are indicative guidelines, to be adapted to your room and habits.
How much light, what size?
- Height. Most floor lamps measure between 140 and 180 cm. For reading, place it slightly behind and to the side of the armchair or sofa, about 30 to 60 cm away, with the light source slightly above shoulder level to avoid shadows on the page.
- Lumens. Allow about 200 to 400 lumens for ambient light, 400 to 800 lumens for reading, and 800 to 1500 lumens for a floor lamp that complements the lighting of a living room. At the office, aim for at least 800 lumens. For reference, an 8 to 10 W LED gives around 800 lumens.
- The socket. E27 (large socket, the most common) or E14 (small socket). The reference is indicated on the product sheet.
- Maximum power. It is indicated on the floor lamp and on the product sheet: never exceed it.
- Space requirements. A round base takes up little space, a tripod occupies more floor area, and an arc extends over the room. Measure the location and ceiling height before choosing.
Color temperature and intensity variation
Temperature is measured in kelvins (K): warm white (2700 to 3000 K) for the living room and bedroom, neutral white (4000 K) for the office and work areas. A warm yellow light makes the atmosphere more welcoming.
Intensity variation lets you lower the light in the evening or raise it for reading. You need a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer: a non-dimmable bulb on a dimmer can flicker or hum. You can choose a model with a dimmer on the cable or at the base, with a remote control, or with a dimmable integrated LED.
Integrated LED or replaceable bulb?
An integrated LED requires no maintenance, but the floor lamp must be replaced at the end of the LED's life, which is long (up to several tens of thousands of hours depending on the models). With an E27 or E14 socket, you change the bulb whenever you want and choose its power, shade, or shape.
Safety and maintenance
- Stability: choose a heavy and wide base, especially with children or pets. Avoid placing the floor lamp in a walkway.
- Cable: do not run it under a rug or across a walkway, and keep it away from heat sources.
- Bulb: respect the maximum power indicated, and do not cover the bulb with fabric or a material that is not intended for this.
- Maintenance: unplug before cleaning. Dust the rattan, bamboo, feathers, and fabric with a duster or soft brush, and avoid water and moisture.

Frequently asked questions
What floor lamp height should I choose?
Between 140 and 180 cm for most rooms. For reading, place the light source slightly above shoulder level. With an arc, also check the ceiling height and the available space above the table or sofa.
Which floor lamp for a small living room?
A narrow model with a thin base, or a bamboo or rattan floor lamp that is more visually open. Placed in a corner, it frees up circulation.
Which bulb and what power should I choose?
Look at the socket (E27 or E14) and the maximum power indicated on the floor lamp. For a living room, a warm white LED of 400 to 800 lumens is suitable in most cases.
How to vary the light intensity?
Choose a dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer, a model with a built-in dimmer or remote control, or a floor lamp with a dimmable integrated LED.
Where to place a floor lamp in the living room?
Near the sofa or an armchair for reading, in a corner to visually enlarge the room, or above a table with an arc model. Avoid walkways.
A tripod will suit a spacious corner as a living room floor lamp, while a metal stem will be preferable in a more limited space.
