The LED ceiling spotlight: a small contemporary light fixture!
Whether you choose it as a discreet light or as the centerpiece of your decorative design, the spotlight is one of the most popular lighting options of our time, one of the first advances in home automation.
LED spotlights have gradually replaced all old lighting using incandescent or halogen bulbs. Indeed, this innovation offers many advantages compared to older models!
Among other things, significant energy savings. In fact, up to 90% energy savings compared to an incandescent bulb model, and up to 10 times greater durability in terms of lifespan (50,000 hours), LED spotlight bulbs have undoubtedly subtly taken over every contemporary living room, dining room, or bedroom! But spotlights are not the only type of light fixture affected. Ceiling lights, wall lights, and table lamps have also benefited from this unprecedented technological and low-energy advance.
What brightness for an LED spotlight
Depending on the type of atmosphere you want to create, calculate the number of lumens needed per square meter. Starting with an average of 350 lm per square meter, choose a spotlight every 2 meters, for example, if the bulb provides a corresponding level of brightness.
For a functional white light, opt for a color temperature between 2000 and 3000 K. For a warm, subdued light, 3000 to 4000 K is preferable.
Choosing the right recessed LED spotlight
The most classic spotlights are round models that attach to the ceiling without taking up space. The advantage of this type of wall or ceiling light is, first and foremost, its ability to provide a light source throughout every room in the house without taking up space when it is built into the wall.
Browsing our selection of accent lighting models, such as spotlights, you will discover a wide variety of styles.
- the dimmable LED spotlight
Or "smart light fixture": it is a lamp model that allows you to adjust the light intensity and thus customize the desired lighting in a bedroom, bathroom, or hallway. Indeed, you will be looking for a warmer or more neutral brightness depending on the room.
Smart bulbs, and therefore dimmable bulbs found within the structure of a spotlight or pendant light, are a real technological advance that provides great comfort and significant energy savings.
-the metal LED spotlight
Metal lamps can reflect an industrial or modern style depending on the color chosen, as well as the atmosphere in which they are integrated. A trio of adjustable spotlights in rusted metal will create vintage atmospheres, while meticulously spaced spotlights in designer black aluminum will illuminate every room with a contemporary character. They can be fitted with a colored shade or made of neutrally colored metal to reflect the spirit of a factory!
-the glass LED spotlight
With its refraction of light even more intense than any other material, light fixtures made of glass, whatever their style, diffuse an even more pronounced light. You can therefore choose smoked glass models to reduce the intensity of the LED light, although non-glare LEDs also exist.
-the plastic LED spotlight
Economical and modern, plastic wall spotlights, especially the round white style, attach very well to the outside of the house, in addition to a living room or dining room. Their ease of maintenance and durability make them highly popular outdoor accent light models. They cannot rust or break like crystal or glass. With a frosted glass shade, you will diffuse a soft, non-glare light. You can also choose these styles in different colors.
Outdoor LED spotlights
To project lighting after nightfall on your patio or along your gravel paths, you naturally turn to LED spotlights. With an incredibly long lifespan and an IP65 rating, outdoor light fixtures are superb small garden floodlights to illuminate the path and thus indicate the direction while creating a modern design. You can choose them with a fixed or adjustable orientation, depending on your preference and the layout of the outdoor space.
We can also recommend other indoor or outdoor lamp models in this category: track spotlights, wall lights…
Why choose an LED spotlight?
Lighting with great efficiency, LED lamps such as certain designer spotlights offer the ability to illuminate any type of object: artwork, sofa, bookcase, aquarium… However, call an electrician to check your electrical installation before installing any light spotlights.
