Bedroom wall light: Create a cosy environment!
When looking to decorate your bedroom, a wide range of lighting options is available to us. Ceiling lights, chandeliers, but also pendant lights or bedside lamps. However, the wall light is the type of lighting that we do not always think of at first, yet it looks very good in a bedroom. It has two functions, unlike a ceiling light which is generally intended to be discreet: the bedroom wall light is both decorative and illuminating! Indeed, even when turned off, this wall lamp will create a soft and warm atmosphere in your interior.
The various uses of the bedroom wall light
In this section, we will see the different types of lighting possible when installing a wall light in a child's or parent's bedroom. The use you make of your wall light will depend on the atmosphere and layout of your bedroom.
For ambient lighting: If you want general lighting in your resting area, we recommend luminous globe-shaped wall lights, with a visible bulb or a small lampshade. These choices will allow you to illuminate the entire room. If necessary, select two or three depending on the size of the bedroom, to create optimal lighting and distribute the light flow evenly.
For accent lighting: To enjoy your reading or relaxation activities, we recommend choosing a reading or night light wall light with an adjustable arm. Install them above your headboard so that you are not dazzled. This type of wall light is generally equipped with an aluminum structure. This allows you to direct the light source according to your comfort. Or, if you have a desk, you will probably want one or two wall lights that will allow you to concentrate during your work sessions. If the desk is in your bedroom, one or more adjustable spotlights are preferable above your desk.
A type of lighting that suits both atmospheres is indirect lighting! In this case, choose a wall light model whose beams disperse from top to bottom. A tubular or curved lampshade, in tinted glass or openwork rattan, are good choices depending on the decoration inside your bedroom. Furthermore, this choice allows the light flow to pass through subtly.
At what height should the wall light be fixed in the bedroom?
To avoid being dazzled, you should not be able to look directly at the bulb. This means that you should install your wall lamps at least in the upper third of the wall, i.e., at eye level or just above. This rule does not necessarily apply if your bedroom wall light has a smoked glass or frosted white lampshade, for example, or if the light flow is directed towards the wall first.
What lighting for my bedroom?
The number of lumens will obviously be important. Calculate the number of square meters in your room, by a number of 30 lumens per square meter. In this case, choose a screw-in LED or halogen bulb corresponding to the number obtained. Divide the lighting power of the bulb (or the entire wall lights, if the bulbs are directly built into the structure) and distribute them evenly in the bedroom to diffuse the light without imbalance.
For more personalization, but also to enjoy the most energy-efficient lighting possible, favor the purchase of an integrated intensity and color temperature dimmer. A motion detector directly in the lamp would be a plus, like for a bathroom wall light. To do this, you have a wide choice among our various designer wall lights! You can choose from our Scandinavian art deco, modern, or even industrial styles.
