Tool inventory

This is the first step before installing a chandelier without a hook. First of all, you must make sure you have all the necessary tools:

  • A wall plug suitable for the support (Molly for drywall, expansion for concrete)

  • An insulated screwdriver (for added safety)

  • Screws and a drill-driver

  • A spirit level (to ensure perfect alignment)

The first thing to do is to mark the appropriate location for mounting your new ambient lamp. Depending on the size of the chandelier, we generally recommend a minimum ceiling height of 2.50 meters.

Mounting the bracket Mark the location. Make sure there are no electrical cables running through the ceiling in that area. Use the drill to drill 2 small holes in the ceiling corresponding to the slots in your mounting bar. Insert the wall plugs, then screw the bracket firmly. This is the element that will support the entire weight of the chandelier.

Tighten the screws firmly, but without forcing too hard, as this could create cracks in the material.

Next, the most important thing in this step is to ensure that the mount is perfectly straight, so that there is no unsightly tilt. Also make sure that the attachment is strong enough.

Installing the chandelier cable

Start by cutting the power supply at the main electrical panel to avoid any risk during the installation of the chandelier. It is also essential to prepare a list of tools required for the installation:

  • The pendant cable
  • Wire cutters for the wires

1) Thread the cable through the designated hanging point, while making sure that the tension is not too great. Fix the base of the chandelier to the bracket using the side screws, then adjust the length of the cable with the built-in safety cable clamp, without tightening it too much to avoid damaging the wires.

2) Just before moving on to the other steps of installing your indoor chandelier, it is essential to check that the cable is perfectly taut and straight, even if you have to pull it by hand.

3) Strip the wires by 5 to 7 mm so that the physical electrical connection is properly established. Insert the wires into the connector.

As a reminder, here is how to connect the wires to the box: (Live = Red/Brown/Black, Neutral = Blue, Earth = Green/Yellow). Therefore, check that each conductor (Live, Neutral, Earth) is in its place

4) Also check that each electrical wire, that is, each live wire (red wire), is correctly integrated into the corresponding part of the DCL box before restoring the power.

Although installing the light fixture without a hook is easy, you must nevertheless pay attention and be vigilant to secure the whole.

Installing a lampshade on the chandelier

This is one of the last steps, but just as important as the previous ones. Indeed, it is an elegant final touch that will define the atmosphere of your room. Make sure you have a suitable lampshade depending on the style of your light fixture to provide an ideal aesthetic. Generally, clips are provided with the chandelier to hold it on each edge.

As with all the previous steps, check that the lampshade is firmly held so that there is no risk of it falling. Also, check that the distance between the LED bulbs or halogen bulbs and the lampshade is large enough to avoid any risk of overheating that could lead to damage to the model.

Once all these steps are completed, turn the power back on and test the atmosphere in your new room.
